Joe Revitte is a self-described, frustrated movie producer, who was stuck in development hell preparing to make pictures that would never be. So to quench his desire to fully materialize a motion picture project, he looked around his Brooklyn, New York neighborhood for inspiration.

The inspiration came in the the form of the local, shared transportation service called the Dollar Van ride, so along with his wife and business partners, Revitte developed the reality based music video format he named Dollar Van Demos (DVD.) DVD showcases rising Urban music talent, performing inside Dollar Vans for an audience of New York City commuters. Revitte video tapes these performances, packages them professionally and broadcasts them via the internet. The videos have become very popular and even sparked a collaboration between DVD and an international restaurant chain, to produce a nation-wide television commercial campaign, that gives even greater exposure to the DVD concept and some of the artists who performed for DVD.

Joe Revitte's DVD is a perfect example of creating art in unexpected places and his story could encourage others who have chosen to abandon their artistic aspirations, to reconsider their decision.
